Yuki Shimmyo Review: I hope that all young children at some point look at a patch of grass and clover and imagine a magical and wondrous forest of sorts. This gentle and charming book reminded me of endless childhood days playing in the yard with my younger brothers. The illustrations are very sweet.

I looked up "flower chafers" -- they are scarab beetles. Japanese children in general seem to enjoy collecting bugs and beetles. I noticed when visiting that toy stores and even corner shops sell small plastic boxes with

Tam Bush Review: This 2008 Geisel honor book was a reminder how music fills and uplifts the soul. While reading this book, I felt its energy of melodious jazz and can just imagine the history past down from generation-to-generation via music, song and dance. The story revolves around the baby and his/her connection to jazz along with his/her family; this connection also spills over to the neighborhood. I truly appreciated this book, it placed a happiness in my heart and a smile on my face.

AH Review: Initial Thoughts: This was a quick read for me. The story revolves around three teenage volunteers in Portland's Search and Rescue. On a routine search for a missing man, the teens come across a body in the woods. The chapters about the murderer were very creepy - he was one disturbed individual. I was able to guess who the killer was about halfway through the book which was a little disappointing for me. I like when authors keep me guessing.
